There are many different pieces of equipment you will need to make your own wine. Here I will describe and recommend some of that equipment that you will need, from basic home wine making kits, to individual pieces. Besides the equipment, you will also need some wine making supplies, such as fruit concentrate, yeast, nutrient, etc.
Wine Making Kits
A wine making kit is the basic setup you will need to make your own wine. It will include the basic equipment you need, such as fermenting container, hydrometer, etc. See Wine Making Kits. These kits are usually affordable, many between $100 and $200. If you don’t have a wine making store nearby, there are many kits available on the internet. Besides the wine kit, some other equipment you may want is:
Wine Making Press
If you have decided to use fresh fruit, such as grapes, to make you wine, then you probably want a wine making press. A wine press is used to squeeze the juice from the fruit. This yields a higher amount of juice than crushing. Wine presses come in various sizes. The one pictured is a smaller press, and can be fit in a basement. For a home wine maker that wants a much higher yield, much larger presses can be had.
Bottle Corker
Have you ever had a tough time opening a bottle of wine? Now imagine how hard it is to get that cork in the bottle to begin with! Fortunately, there is nothing to worry about. Bottle corkers are readily available, and making corking the bottle a breeze. They come in different shapes and sizes, but accomplish the same task. Highly recommended to get a good quality one, seeing as often times they will take a bit of pressure from the user.
